Located at 399 Green Lanes in the vibrant heart of London, Le Grand Jour is a delightful café that truly captures the essence of a cozy French patisserie. From the moment you step through its doors, the inviting aromas of freshly baked goods and aromatic coffee fill the air, promising a culinary escape to Paris without leaving the city.

Le Grand Jour specializes in classic French pastries, and it’s hard to resist the allure of their renowned almond croissant, often hailed as the best in the area. Customers rave about this flaky treasure, describing it as nothing short of perfection. Pair it with a perfectly brewed cup of coffee, and you’ve got a match made in culinary heaven. For those who prefer a refreshing start, the café serves a fantastically delicious freshly squeezed orange juice that provides a zesty lift to your morning routine.

The atmosphere at Le Grand Jour is as charming as its menu. With an unassuming yet inviting vibe, the café features cozy seating both indoors and on a lovely outdoor patio, perfect for people-watching or enjoying the gentle London breeze. Regulars like Abid K have discovered their go-to spot here, praising the lovely friendly staff and the malaise of delectable pastries that beckon you to return time and again.

While many connoisseurs delight in the sweet offerings, be advised that some treats, according to customers like Tetiana Makovei, might lean towards the sweeter side. However, for those with a penchant for indulgence, it is a paradise of cakes and pastries. Even if the selection was temporarily limited due to Covid, as noted by birthday celebrator Suzanne Persaud, the quality and care put into each cake shine through, ensuring every bite is a gastronomic experience worth savoring.

If you’re in the area and looking for a hidden gem that delights the senses, don’t miss out on Le Grand Jour. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick coffee break or indulging in an afternoon pastry feast, this cafe promises a delightful escape that will leave you yearning for a return visit.

Really delicious freshly squeezed orange juice. The croissants and the coffee were on point. Hidden gem of a place, very unassuming but highly recommend. Would definitely visit again

All the cakes look great, but unfortunately too sweet for me. Couldn't finish mine

I wanted French pastries and a selection of cakes for my birthday. I decided to give them a try based on the photos on their Facebook page and reviews. Due to Covid they didn't have as many selection as they would normally have but I managed to pick up a few things. I'm a foodie and love cake so I'm very picky when it comes to taste and textures. Most of the cakes were good, my favourites were the passion fruit cheesecake and mojito cake. The chocolate ones were nice too, not sickly sweet. The pastries were good too, the plain croissant was buttery and fresh. The reason why I left out a star was that they missed a pastry in my bag, I did make a large order and spent about £50 so was miffed at myself also for not checking before I left. I found out they need about 2 days notice for occasion cakes which isn't too bad. Only issue is that no-one ever picks up the phone whenever I called! Other than that if you're in the area give it a try (just make sure you check you have everything before you leave!!)

Small and unassuming little cafe that produces the best pastries and breads. For a real treat ask for the "scrambled egg on croissant with cheese". No one else does it like that and it's simply the best.

Great coffee and friendly staff. Try the refreshing juice drinks for a change - I recommend Carrot/Celery/Ginger.
